The French energy company would be a key buyer from a plant planned by Brazilian renewables developer Casa dos Ventos, said people familiar with the matter who asked not to be identified because the deliberations are private. TotalEnergies, which has a 34 percent stake in the developer’s wind and solar generation unit, also is considering taking a direct shareholding in the project, the people said.
TotalEnergies SE and Air Liquide SA plan a €600 million ($628 million) joint venture to produce green hydrogen for the French oil giant’s refinery in the Netherlands, along with a supply deal for its petrochemical plant in Belgium.
The three companies said in a joint media release that under the Framework for Action agreement, Masdar and TotalEnergies will strengthen their cooperation to provide reliable and sustainable electricity to local communities in Africa and support its long-term energy systems transformation, and jointly develop new clean energy opportunities in Southeast Asia.
The LNG will be sourced from TotalEnergie’s global portfolio and will be delivered to terminals on India’s west coast at an expected rate of six cargoes per year.
TotalEnergies SE has signed a “physical” power purchase agreement (PPA) with STMicroelectronics, a semiconductor specialist, for a renewable energy supply. TotalEnergies said in a media release that in January it started delivering renewable electricity to STMicroelectronics sites in France under a 15-year contract. The overall volume to be delivered under the contract is 1.5 terawatt hours (TWh).
The LNG project in the restive Cabo Delgado province has been on hold since 2021 when an Islamist insurgency threatened the site. Dozens of civilians were killed in the attacks in a nearby town, forcing Total to declare a force majeure and withdraw all staff from the construction site.
