ASCO has been awarded a five-year contract until 2030 for base and logistics services for Aker BP in Tananger, Sandnessjøen, and Farsund in Norway. The agreement also includes continued services in warehouse management, load carriers, waste services, and personnel leasing for logistics and helicopter coordination.
The increase in new exploration projects reflects the growth in demand for natural gas from Norway, following the Russian invasion of Ukraine and subsequent sanctions on Russian oil. Norway is Western Europe’s largest oil and gas producer, with an output of more than 4 million bpd, and the government aims to continue increasing production for several decades.
DNO ASA announced Monday an oil and gas discovery in an area of the Norwegian North Sea that it said has attracted little exploration interest, putting the size between 27 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe) and 57 MMboe.
DNO had two exploration targets: a deeper prospect (Falstaff), where no reservoir was encountered and a shallower prospect (Othello), where a 16-metre net oil-bearing reservoir was encountered. Preliminary estimates indicate that gross recoverable resources could lie in the 27 million-57 million boe range.
