Ghana’s oil and gas story is about to gain a new chapter — and this one is being written onshore. For decades, the country’s hydrocarbon wealth has been synonymous with offshore fields like Jubilee and TEN. Now, GNPC Explorco, the exploration arm of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, is turning attention inland, to a basin that has sat untouched since 1974: the Voltaian.
Ghana earned $355.5 million from crude oil lifts in the first half of 2026, representing a 63 per cent increase over the same period in 2025.
