Perenco has finalised the USD 206-million acquisition of the Greater Angostura oil and gasfields and associated production facilities from Woodside Energy in Trinidad and Tobago, Perenco said on Friday.
Effective July 11, Perenco assumed operatorship of the 2(C) and 3(A) production-sharing contracts, including seven fixed offshore platforms, subsea infrastructure and an onshore terminal. The acquired Angostura and Ruby fields currently produce around 8.5 mcm (300 mcf) per day of gas or 50,000 boepd, approximately 12% of the country’s national gas output.
This transaction increases Perenco’s gross production in the country to over 100,000 boepd and its gross gas output to more than 14.2 mcm (500 mcf) per day. Perenco said the acquisition will enhance operational synergies, drive value and enable further investment.
“This acquisition is an exciting, promising addition to Perenco’s acreage in Trinidad and Tobago,” Perenco CEO Armel Simondin said.
“It shows our continued commitment and ambition towards developing energy resources and contributing towards the country’s economic growth.”
The deal, announced in March, does not include the Calypso deepwater asset operated by Woodside Energy.
Perenco has operated in Trinidad and Tobago since 2016, starting with the Teak, Samaan and Poui fields and expanding in 2024 with the acquisition of the Cashima, Amherstia, Flamboyant and Immortelle assets. The company undertakes mature oilfield developments and focuses on sustainable energy production and local community engagement. Perenco operates in 13 countries worldwide.
