ADNOC has awarded BGP, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation, a USD 490-million contract to expand the ongoing 3D Mega Seismic Survey in Abu Dhabi, ADNOC announced on Wednesday.
The surveying project was started by ADNOC in 2018 and, in what has become one of the world’s largest continuous seismic surveys, it has come to cover 85,000 square kilometres across onshore and offshore areas in Abu Dhabi.
“ADNOC continues to capitalise on industry-leading technologies to maximise value creation and responsibly meet the growing demand for energy. Our investment in the world’s largest 3D survey emphasises the role advanced technologies play in our operations as we continue to realise the full potential of our oil and gas resources to ensure the UAE remains a long-term and reliable energy provider to the world,” said Abdulmunim Saif Al Kindy, ADNOC’s upstream executive director.
BGP is a provider of geophysical services to the energy industry. Based in Hebei, China, it has operations in more than 80 countries and regions and has worked internationally with more than 300 oil and gas companies.
