BP has received bids from at least five international contractors for the FEED contract for its gas compression and electrification project in Block 61 in Oman, Upstream reported on Friday.
FEED scope covers compression and electrification works at the Khazzan and Ghazeer gasfields in Block 61, with key elements including a central processing facility with electrically driven compression trains, substations and a new 132/33 kV overhead line, as well as associated utilities.
Among the bidding companies are KBR, Kent, Petrofac, Wood and Worley, with BP expected to make its selection by Q1 2026, Upstream reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Block 61 produced around 42.5 mcm (1.5 bcf) of gas and more than 38,000 barrels of condensate per day in Q3 2024, making it one of Oman’s key assets for meeting growing domestic gas demand. BP launched the tender process in November 2025 and intends to fast-track the project.
BP’s operations in Oman are focused on Block 61, which it operates with a 40% stake alongside OQEP (30%), PTTEP (20%) and Petronas subsidiary PC Oman Ventures (10%). The company has played a leading role in enhancing Oman’s gas output and is expanding the electrification and efficiency of its operations to advance decarbonisation goals.
