Engineering and consulting group Wood has launched a specialised centre for technical, strategic and economic energy transition services in Abu Dhabi, Wood announced on Wednesday.
The centre will be staffed with technical experts specialising in carbon advisory, renewable energy, hydrogen, decarbonisation and CCS, and renewable power generation. By deploying local advisory and execution teams, Wood aims to support clients in the region and contribute to the UAE Net Zero 2050 and Saudi Vision 2030 programmes.
“With global investment in the energy transition surpassing USD 2 trillion, Wood’s experts will play a key role in advancing pragmatic, scalable and sustainable energy solutions for our clients and the region for many years to come. The establishment of our hub underscores our commitment to supporting the region’s critical part in the global energy transition,” said Gerry Traynor, president of Projects Eastern Hemisphere at Wood.
Wood recently opened its third regional office in Sharjah, UAE. In 2024, the company secured a total of around USD 920 million in contracts in the Middle East, including pre-FEED on Aramco’s Southern and Northern Areas project in Saudi Arabia and a three-year integrated FEED engagement from TotalEnergies in Iraq.
