Valaris wins five-well drilling contract offshore West Africa

Valaris has secured a five-well contract for its drillship VALARIS DS-15 in West Africa, with work scheduled to begin in Q3 2026, the company said on Monday.

The company did not specify the country or client involved.

The contract, valued at approximately USD 135 million, includes upfront payments for rig upgrades and mobilisation but excludes additional services. The estimated duration is 250 days, and the deal includes options for up to five more wells, potentially extending the campaign by 80 to 100 days.

“This is a reset BP, with an unwavering focus on growing long-term shareholder value,” president and CEO Anton Dibowitz said.

“We are excited to have secured another contract for one of our high-specification drillships. As part of this contract, the rig will be upgraded with an enhanced managed pressure drilling system. We believe this contract reflects the market’s preference for contractors that can deliver complex drilling solutions with high-specification, seventh generation drillships. In addition, this contract adds to our presence offshore West Africa, where we are well positioned for future contracting opportunities.”
