Tullow hires DeepOcean for Jubilee gas lift riser work offshore Ghana

Tullow Ghana has awarded DeepOcean a contract for a riser retermination project at the Jubilee field offshore Ghana. The work covers a gas lift riser that runs between the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah and the field’s subsea production system. Offshore work is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. The contract value wasn’t disclosed.

DeepOcean will handle project management, engineering, riser disconnection, deck-side retermination, reconnection and pre-commissioning. The offshore work will use the subsea construction vessel Orient Adventurer, formerly Polar Onyx, which recently returned to DeepOcean’s fleet after a major upgrade. Teams in Accra, Ghana, and Sète, France, will carry out the project with engineering support from Aberdeen. DeepOcean Ghana, a joint venture between DeepOcean and a local partner, will execute the contract.

“The vessel’s vertical lay system (VLS) makes it particularly well suited for the safe and efficient deployment of the risers through the moonpool,” said Robin Mawhinney, DeepOcean’s executive vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Jubilee lies about 60 km (37 mi) offshore Ghana in about 1,100 m (3,609 ft) of water. The FPSO Kwame Nkrumah can process more than 120,000 bpd of oil. Ghana’s oil production has risen about 30% this year on the back of renewed investment at Jubilee.
