TotalEnergies exits three fields in Norway’s Greater Ekofisk

TotalEnergies has agreed to divest its 39.89% non-operated interests in Norway’s West Ekofisk and Albuskjell fields to Vår Energi and its 20.23% stake in the Tommeliten Gamma field to Orlen Upstream Norway, the French energy giant announced on Wednesday.

The fields, located in the Greater Ekofisk Area, ceased production in 1998 and are being redeveloped under the Previously Produced Fields project, pending final investment decision expected in Q4 2025.

TotalEnergies said it remains committed to Norway, retaining stakes in other producing assets in the Greater Ekofisk Area, including Ekofisk, Eldfisk and Embla.

“TotalEnergies continues to actively high-grade its Upstream portfolio by seizing value-accretive divestment opportunities,” senior vice-president Europe for exploration and production Jean-Luc Guiziou said.

TotalEnergies is a global multi-energy company active in more than 130 countries. Its operations span oil, natural gas, renewables and electricity. In Norway, the company has long-standing positions in the North Sea, particularly within the Greater Ekofisk Area, which remains a key part of its European upstream portfolio.

Vår Energi is a leading Norwegian E&P company with interests in over 140 licences and operations across the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Orlen Upstream Norway is part of the Polish energy group Orlen, expanding its upstream footprint in the North Sea through strategic acquisitions.
