
TotalEnergies has acquired Tecoil, a Finnish company specialised in lubricants used oil regeneration, the French company announced on Monday.Tecoil produces 50,000 tonnes per year of re-refined base oils (RRBOs) at its facility in Hamina, in eastern Finland.Tecoil’s process involves treating used oils to give them properties comparable to the best virgin base oils. Its products meet a growing customer demand for sustainability.
The company has developed its own circular economy network for collecting used lubricants in Europe and supplying its plant, TotalEnergies said.For its part, TotalEnergies is a major producer and distributor of lubricants worldwide.
“We are delighted to welcome the Tecoil teams and combine their know-how in base oil processing with TotalEnergies’ recognized expertise in the production and distribution of lubricants,” said Pierre Duhot, TotalEnergies’ senior vice-president lubricants and specialties.
“The integration of Tecoil into TotalEnergies will allow us to accelerate the use of RRBOs in the production of our high-end lubricants to meet our customers’ growing demand for increasingly high-performance, environmentally friendly products.
