Malaysia Airlines has received days’ worth of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), marking the delivery of the Southeast Asian country’s first locally blended SAF, the state-owned oil and gas company said.
PRIO SA, Brava Energia and BW Energy Ltd are considering buying Petroliam Nasional Berhad’s stake in the Brazilian oil field Tartaruga Verde to expand in Latin America’s largest producing country, according to people familiar with the matter.
Malaysia’s Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) has produced the first hydrocarbons from the Bindu field, located 210 kilometers (136 miles) off the coast of Terengganu.
Petrobras’ efforts to increase oil and gas production are bearing fruit. Petrobras produced 2.7 million barrels of oil equivalent in the second quarter of the year, which represented a 2.4% increase as the company ramped up production at five platforms and started 12 new wells, of which eight in the Campos Basin and four in the Santos Basin.
The collaboration aims to develop an ecosystem in Malaysia that empowers organizations to leverage AI for economic growth and social benefits. Focusing on nation-building, these companies will aid Malaysia in establishing regional leadership in AI and cultivating a robust local AI community through joint programs, Petronas said.
Earlier this month, Petronas formalized several key agreements with the state of Sabah through its unit, Malaysia Petroleum Management. These deals are part of the Commercial Collaboration Agreement that Petronas signed with the state government in 2021. The collaboration agreement aims for a long-term and structured approach to securing a reliable gas supply for the state’s expanding domestic demand, while enabling sustainable industrial growth, according to Petronas.
Announcing its maiden dispatch from the project, Petronas said, “LNG Canada is a critical component of PETRONAS’ global LNG strategy to diversify its supply portfolio and increase market flexibility. Strategically located on Canada’s west coast and connected to PETRONAS’ upstream gas assets in Northeast B.C., LNG Canada offers a direct and efficient shipping corridor to key North Asian markets including Japan, South Korea and China”.
Petronas said in a media release the event marked a significant milestone in Sabah’s energy growth with the official handover of the Sabah Gas Strategy, a project led jointly by Petronas and the state government. Guided by the Sabah Joint Coordination Committee, the strategy was crafted by a Joint Task Force including Petronas, SMJ Energy Sdn. Bhd., Sabah Energy Corp. Sdn. Bhd., the Energy Commission of Sabah, and the Ministry of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship.

These technologies are intended to enable Petronas exploration and asset teams to collaborate in real time using a unified live earth model, with the aim of achieving more accurate reserve estimations through ensemble modeling.
