The Directorate reported that the Slagugle oil discovery, proven in 2020, holds an estimated 4.9 to 9.8 million standard cubic meters of oil equivalent (approximately 30.8 to 61.6 million barrels of oil equivalent) in Triassic reservoir rocks. Additional potential volumes exist in the lower Are Formation and Upper Grey Beds. Licensees will now analyze the data to assess a possible development.
Well 6507/5-13 S aimed to prove petroleum in reservoir rocks in the Fangst and Båt groups. “The well encountered a 14-meter oil column in the Garn Formation in 43 meters of sandstone with moderate reservoir quality”, the upstream regulator said in a press release. “The oil/water contact was encountered at 3702 meters below sea level. The other formations in the Fangst and Båt groups were aquiferous.
MOL Plc said it has discovered a new oil field near Somogysámson in Western Hungary.
The company found oil at a depth of (4,100 feet) 1,250 meters during exploration drilling in December 2024. According to the results, the well located in the Somogysámson oilfield is capable of producing 1,200 barrels per day, MOL said.
Production from the new well is being transported by truck to the Danube Refinery in Százhalombatta and represents approximately one percent of the MOL Group’s total hydrocarbon production, according to the release.
