New Zealand’s government has awarded the first offshore oil and gas exploration license after last year lifting a ban on drilling, put in place by the previous government that wanted to focus on a transition from hydrocarbons to electricity from low-carbon sources.
The Centre is drawing up an incentive package worth Rs 80,000 crore to boost domestic oil and gas production in India. The government could cover up to 50% of the drilling costs of deep water exploratory wells. The plan aims to attract foreign investment, accelerate offshore oil and gas exploration, and strengthen energy security.
Turkey’s state energy company is in talks with Chevron to jointly explore for oil and gas, according to a Turkish official familiar with the discussions.
Turkey is currently in talks to explore for oil and gas in Bulgaria, with similar plans for exploration in Iraq and Libya, Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has revealed. According to the minister, state-owned energy company Turkiye Petrolleri AO (TPAO) will sign an agreement with an unnamed foreign partner within the next month to conduct exploration in Bulgaria’s section of the Black Sea.
