DeepOcean advances subsea flowline heating innovation with TotalEnergies, Equinor, and Aker BP

The joint industry project (JIP), led by DeepOcean, introduces a patented heating solution that allows power cables to be installed after pipeline lay or integrated within reeled pipelines. This approach can reduce manufacturing and installation costs by up to 35% and cut carbon emissions by 30%, while improving operational efficiency and extending tieback distances.

Halliburton, Aker BP achieve industry-first installation on Norwegian Continental Shelf

The operation utilized Halliburton’s Enhanced Remote Operated Control System (eROCS) in conjunction with the Optime Tubing Hanger Orientation System (OTHOS). Together, the systems enabled precise orientation and installation of a vertical Christmas tree tubing hanger without the need for traditional umbilicals or standard orientation tools.

Well 6507/5-13 S aimed to prove petroleum in reservoir rocks in the Fangst and Båt groups. “The well encountered a 14-meter oil column in the Garn Formation in 43 meters of sandstone with moderate reservoir quality”, the upstream regulator said in a press release. “The oil/water contact was encountered at 3702 meters below sea level. The other formations in the Fangst and Båt groups were aquiferous.
