ACCRA, June 26 (Xinhua) — Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama late Thursday performed the official groundbreaking for the expansion of the Chinese-built Sentuo oil refinery project in Tema, Ghana’s eastern port city, to increase production from 40,000 barrels per stream day to 100,000.
This flagship APPO platform will bring together CEOs and senior executives from 19 African oil-producing nations to engage in strategic dialogue on regional collaboration, innovation, and sustainability in Africa’s petroleum sector.
During the launch, organisers and policy makers emphasised the need to leverage energy in driving socio-economic development, highlighting the theme for the event “Repositioning the Energy Sector as a Pillar of National Development,”.
At a press conference held at the Kempinski Hotel today in Accra, the Minister of Trade and Industry, Herbert Krapa, further underscored the commitment to this initiative, announcing that Ghana aims to host a summit that will bring together African ministers, national oil companies, and regulatory bodies.
