Singapore’s Seatrium has secured a repeat equipment and licensing contract from International Maritime Industries (IMI) shipyard for a LeTourneau jackup drill, the company said on Wednesday.
The deal is for a LeTourneau Super 116E Class self-elevating drilling unit, designated Kingdom 4, and follows a February 2025 contract with the same specifications for IMI’s Kingdom 3 unit. Seatrium’s model involves providing rig kits that customers can use to build rigs at their own yards and meet local content requirements.
The LeTourneau Super 116E Class rigs feature 105-metre legs and more than 680,000 kilograms of hook load capacity, and are designed to operate in demanding offshore conditions.
Kingdom 4 marks Seatrium’s 45th order for a LeTourneau Super 116 series, a design that is among the highest in demand globally. To date, Seatrium has designed or contributed to the construction of more than half of the jackups in service worldwide, and 65% of those operating in the Middle East.
Based in Ras Al Khair, Saudi Arabia, IMI is the largest shipyard in the MENA region. Once completed, IMI will deliver the Kingdom 3 and Kingdom 4 units to offshore drilling specialist ARO Drilling, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and drilling contractor Valaris.
Seatrium is a global provider of construction, engineering and conversion services for the offshore, marine and energy sectors. Its offerings include rigs, floaters, platforms and specialised vessels for markets in Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East.
