RINA has been awarded the front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for PETRONAS CCS Ventures Sdn. Bhd. (PCCSV), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), covering the Southern Onshore Facilities of Malaysia’s flagship carbon capture and storage (CCS) project.
The award follows RINA’s completion of pre-FEED services in 2024 and marks a key step toward developing one of Southeast Asia’s most advanced CCS infrastructure projects. Under the contract, RINA will advance engineering for the onshore CO₂ receiving terminal in Peninsular Malaysia, which is designed to process emissions from multiple domestic and international industrial sources before offshore transport and injection into geological storage sites.
“This award underscores the trust placed in RINA’s engineering expertise and execution capability,” said Michele Budetta, CEO of RINA Consulting. “We are proud to continue supporting PETRONAS in delivering this strategic carbon management project and contributing to Malaysia’s low-carbon energy goals.”
With more than 6,600 specialists globally, RINA will support PETRONAS in ensuring safety, efficiency, and technology optimization across the project. The initiative strengthens Malaysia’s role as a regional leader in large-scale CCS deployment and aligns with broader national and regional decarbonization objectives.
