Renewable energy fund to roll out pre-approval notifications

The Minister of Energy, Giorgos Papanastasiou, recently stated on RIK radio that within the week, the Renewable Energy Sources (RES) & Energy Efficiency (EE) Fund will begin sending SMS or emails to inform applicants about the pre-approval of their application for the installation of a roof photovoltaic system without initial capital, through the “Photovoltaic for Everyone” scheme.

The commencement of pre-approvals became possible following the approval of the RES Fund’s 2024 budget last Thursday by Parliament. According to the minister, there are approximately five thousand completed applications. The collection of applications continues. After receiving pre-approval, applicants can contact system installers registered in the relevant registry posted on the Fund’s and Energy Service’s websites to finalize an agreement. The ministry’s aim, Papanastasiou said, is to complete the installation of the photovoltaic system within two months from the pre-approval date.

In cases of photovoltaic systems with a capacity of 4 kilowatts, the state subsidy is one thousand euros, and an additional four thousand euros will be spent by the RES Fund (total cost of 5,000), with repayment through bi-monthly installments of 150 euros. If consumers choose systems exceeding 5,000 euros in total value, they will be required to pay the additional amount themselves. The Consumer Protection Service of the Ministry of Commerce has assured that the installer registry includes many companies offering photovoltaic systems within the financial framework covered by the RES Fund and within the technical specifications set by the ministry.
