Fatima Dangote, daughter of Africa’s richest man and Executive Director for Oil and Gas at Dangote Group, has described the planned initial public offering (IPO) of the family’s refinery business as a major step for African industrialisation.
She said the IPO is more than a sale of shares because it represents Africa’s growing industrial strength.
Speaking in an interview with Bloomberg on Saturday July 25,2026, about the planned listing, Fatima Dangote said one of the most important parts of the IPO is the opportunity for both Africans and international investors to take part.
She said the offering allows people from around the world to become part of Africa’s industrial growth story.
“It is good that one of the biggest IPOs is about to happen in Africa,” she said. “What matters most to me is the participation of both Africans and people outside Africa in this story that Dangote Group is trying to tell,” she explained.
Dangote said the IPO is sending a strong message about Africa’s ability to build world-class industries. She explained that the continent can now develop projects that compete on a global scale.
“We are selling a story that Africa is able to industrialise at a global scale,” she said.
She added, “Africa can conceive an idea, finance it and manage a mega project at a global level.”
She added that the IPO is about much more than raising money from investors.
According to her, it is also about changing how the world sees Africa’s economic potential and industrial future.
“It is not just about selling shares,” Dangote said. “It is showing the world that Africa has entered a new phase of industrialisation,“ she noted.
