Petrobras inks deal for 12 platform support vessels

Petrobras has signed contracts worth USD 2.8 billion with Bram Offshore and Starnav Maritime Services for the construction and charter of 12 platform supply vessels (PSVs), Petrobras announced on Thursday.

Bram and Starnav will be responsible for chartering six vessels each to Petrobras. The contracts include a period of up to four years for mobilisation and 12 years of operation, during which the vessels will support Petrobras’s exploration and production activities.

“These new units will not only incorporate the latest in technology but will also represent our engagement with sustainable and innovative best practices. They meet the highest environmental, social and governance standards, essential for a sustainable future,” said Magda Chambriard, CEO of Petrobras.

The PSVs will be constructed at Bram’s and Starnav’s shipyards in Navegantes and Itajai, respectively, and will feature hybrid propulsion systems that combine electric motors and batteries with diesel and biodiesel generators.
