North Sea industry leaders to co-chair SPE Offshore Europe 2027

Serica Energy Chair David Latin and Ithaca Energy Executive Chairman Yaniv Friedman have been appointed conference co-chairs for SPE Offshore Europe 2027, which will be held Sept. 7-9, 2027, at P&J Live in Aberdeen.

The two executives will lead the conference executive committee, helping shape the event’s strategic agenda as the UK North Sea industry continues to navigate investment uncertainty, energy security priorities and the evolving role of offshore oil and gas alongside lower-carbon energy development.

“The production of new oil and gas and the growth of renewables are entirely complementary,” Latin said. “Homegrown oil and gas production delivers jobs, boosts economies and comes with a lower carbon footprint than imported energy.”

Friedman said restoring long-term investment in the UK North Sea will be a central industry priority by the time the conference convenes.

“The UK North Sea needs a clear investable path forward,” Friedman said. “Investing in UK energy security should be at the top of everyone’s agenda.”

The conference’s technical program will be co-chaired by Irene Brekne Hamre, managing director, North Sea GeoZone at Baker Hughes, and Edna Michelle Bisso Bi Mba, head of reservoir services at Harbour Energy.

Conference organizers said the technical program will be expanded for 2027 to include more papers and technical sessions than previous editions. The conference theme, executive and technical committee members, and call for papers are expected to be announced in the coming months.

SPE Offshore Europe, organized by the Offshore Europe Partnership—a joint venture between RX Global and the Society of Petroleum Engineers—remains one of Europe’s largest offshore energy conferences, bringing together operators, service companies, policymakers and technology providers to discuss the future of the offshore energy industry.
