NG Energy International has made a new natural gas discovery in the Hechicero-1X well in Colombia’s Sinu-9 block, the company announced on Tuesday.
Initially spudded on February 26, 2026, the Hechicero-1X well reached a total measured depth of 2,591 metres on March 28, with log analysis confirming multiple intervals of natural gas in the Ciénaga de Oro formation and natural gas-bearing reservoirs in the Porquero and San Cayetano intervals.
“The Hechicero-1X results are an important step forward for the Sinu-9 campaign,” NG Energy International CEO Jorge Fonseca said, adding that the discovery expands the gas potential and supports long-term production growth alongside infrastructure scaling.
The company also said drilling at the Aruchara-5 well, which targets the Jimol formation in the María Conchita Block, is progressing as planned.
NG Energy International is a Canada-based upstream company focused on natural gas exploration and production in Colombia, where it holds interests in Sinu-9 and operates the María Conchita block, targeting scalable supply to the domestic market.
