McDermott has secured a large subsea engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract from PTTEP for the Block H gasfield expansion offshore Sabah, Malaysia, the company said on Tuesday.
The contract includes a carbon steel pipeline and installation of subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines for the Alum, Bemban and Permai deepwater fields to supply additional gas to the PFLNG DUA facility.
Engineering and project management will be executed from McDermott’s Kuala Lumpur office, which serves as the company’s global hub for deepwater projects. Offshore work will utilise McDermott’s marine construction fleet.
The project, operated by PTTEP with partners Petronas Carigali and PT Pertamina Malaysia Exploration Production, supports Malaysia’s deepwater gas strategy and aims to enhance domestic gas supply.
McDermott is a US-based energy services company delivering EPC and installation solutions across upstream and downstream sectors. The company operates globally, with regional hubs including its Kuala Lumpur office for subsea and deepwater operations in Asia.
PTTEP is Thailand’s national upstream company with operations in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. In Malaysia, PTTEP leads several upstream projects including the deepwater Block H development.
