Sudesh Chaturvedi, managing director of GAC Kuwait, talks to The Energy Year about reinforcing the company’s cargo handling capabilities and expanding into logistical support services for live events. The GAC Group is a global provider of integrated shipping, logistics and marine services.
How did GAC Kuwait perform over the past year?
In 2024, GAC strengthened its reputation in Kuwait as a logistics partner, helping businesses across the country and the wider region streamline their supply chains. By expanding our liner operations with new routes and boosting export volumes, we gave our customers faster, more cost-effective shipping options.
Our offshore logistics ensured critical energy projects progressed without delay, while enhanced warehousing and project logistics offered scalable, efficient cargo handling, reducing downtime and keeping operations agile. Reliable tanker and dry cargo services further supported regional trade, underscoring our ability to provide integrated logistics solutions in a competitive market.
What was your operational focus in Kuwait?
Our 2024 focus was to deliver practical, end-to-end logistics tailored to Kuwait’s evolving needs. By expanding liner routes, we improved trade connectivity, giving customers more flexible and efficient cargo options, and we enhanced our offshore logistics support to meet the demands of energy projects, ensuring specialised cargo and personnel movements stayed on schedule. Warehousing and project logistics were scaled to handle high-volume and time-sensitive shipments, cutting delays and costs.
Dry cargo services, including ro-ro and defence-related shipments, were expanded through regional collaboration, helping our customers move goods seamlessly across borders. Every assignment from offshore heavy-lift cargo to major sporting event logistics was executed with precision and responsiveness, translating into smoother operations and peace of mind for our clients.
Which are GAC’s strongest market segments right now?
GAC Kuwait has a strong presence across tanker agency, containers, ro-ro, general and project cargo, offshore support, freight forwarding, customs clearance and more. What sets us apart is our ability to co-ordinate seamless, end-to-end logistics that simplify complex supply chains.
Our global reach combined with local expertise means we manage time-sensitive, oversized and specialised cargo with consistent reliability, for a wide range of sectors including energy, automotive, aviation and events. Our integrated shipping and logistics services reduce friction and streamline cargo movement, giving customers a trusted, single-source solution that saves time and resources.
What logistical services do you provide to the energy industry?
Supporting Kuwait’s energy sector is our core strength. We provide full logistics services for moving heavy equipment such as rigs and turbines via ro-ro vessels, ensuring careful loading, lashing and on-time delivery. Oversized cargo is handled with specialised carriers and to strict international standards, reducing risk and downtime. Our offshore agency services co-ordinate crew changes and supplies to keep marine and subsea projects running smoothly. This comprehensive support helps energy companies maintain project timelines and operational efficiency in a demanding environment.
How do you view the current logistics market in Kuwait?
Kuwait’s logistics market is growing rapidly, fuelled by major infrastructure investments and its strategic position as a trade hub. With port upgrades, such as the Mubarak Al Kabeer Port project, enabling calls by larger vessels, demand for integrated multimodal logistics is increasing. GAC is positioned well to meet this demand with comprehensive services, agency, customs, transport, warehousing and strong regional co-ordination.
As supply chains grow more global and complex, our expertise, local know-how and multi-jurisdiction operations ensure customers can rely on us for seamless, end-to-end logistics. Growing sectors such as energy, infrastructure, automotive and events further benefit from our proven track record delivering specialised, scalable solutions aligned with Kuwait’s economic vision.
What are GAC’s long-term growth plans?
Looking ahead, we aim to deepen our services to support Kuwait’s evolving logistics needs and help customers stay ahead in a changing market. Short-term priorities include strengthening first- and last-mile delivery, expanding air freight and growing our footprint in live event logistics areas where fast, reliable service creates a real competitive advantage.
Strategic investments and partnerships will enhance our reach and responsiveness, especially as e-commerce and urban logistics expand. Our successful delivery of logistics support for a major regional event, the Khaleeji Zain 26 Arabian Gulf Cup, demonstrated our ability to manage complex operations with precision.
Long-term, we plan to enhance our 4PL [fourth-party logistics] capabilities, invest in sustainability and deepen sector expertise, particularly in offshore energy, automotive and aviation. By aligning with Kuwait’s infrastructure priorities, we aim to remain the trusted logistics partner that customers count on for practical, scalable solutions.
