Halliburton wins Repsol well lifecycle work in the UK North Sea

Repsol Resources UK has awarded Halliburton a five-year well support contract for Repsol’s platforms in the UK North Sea, Halliburton announced on Monday.

Halliburton will provide subsurface technology, drilling and completion services for producing assets, as well as digital solutions for new developments. The company will deliver a rigless intervention framework for well construction and production, as well as support for plug and abandonment (P&A) operations.

P&A work consists of preparing wells for permanent closure after production has depleted the reservoir. Repsol holds interest in 43 fields in the UK Continental Shelf, of which the company operates 36, as well as assets that have ceased producing or are approaching decommissioning.

“This collaboration between Halliburton and Repsol Resources UK marks a strategic milestone. The efforts to maximise the remaining potential of the UK North Sea align with our focus to provide safe and reliable P&A operations,” said Timothy Horsfall, vice-president of Halliburton Europe.
