Ghana’s Petroleum Funds Hit US$1.64 Billion in First Half of 2026

Ghana’s Petroleum Funds recorded a combined balance of US$1.64 billion at the end of the first half of 2026, according to the Bank of Ghana’s latest report on the management of the funds.

The report, which covers the period ending June 30, 2026, indicated that the Ghana Petroleum Funds received total allocations of US$197.13 million from petroleum revenues during the six-month period.

Of this amount, US$137.99 million was allocated to the Ghana Stabilisation Fund, while the Ghana Heritage Fund received US$59.14 million.The two funds also generated US$27.79 million in net investment income during the period.

Despite the inflows, the Ghana Stabilisation Fund recorded withdrawals totalling US$132.94 million, leaving it with a closing balance of US$182.68 million at the end of June.

The Ghana Heritage Fund, which recorded no withdrawals during the period, ended the first half of the year with a balance of US$1.46 billion.

According to the report, the two funds began 2026 with a combined opening balance of US$1.55 billion.The Bank of Ghana attributed the latest allocations to proceeds from five crude oil liftings undertaken during the first half of the year. The liftings were from the Jubilee, Sankofa-Gye Nyame and Tweneboa-Enyenra-Ntomme (TEN) oil fields.

The report was published in accordance with the Petroleum Revenue Management Act, 2011 (Act 815), which requires the Bank of Ghana to regularly disclose information on crude oil liftings and the allocation of petroleum revenues to the Ghana Petroleum Funds.
