Accra, Ghana – 23 June 2026 – The Ghana Upstream Petroleum Chamber has announced changes to its Council leadership following its Council meeting held yesterday.
The Council appointed Mr Joe Dadzie (Head of Vitol Upstream Ghana) as the new Chairman of the Council and Ms. Naa Opoku Agyeman (Managing Director, Yinson) as the new Vice Chair. They succeeded Joe Mensah, Vice President and Country Manager of Kosmos and Theophilus Ahwireng, Managing Director of Modec, who served as Chairman and Vice Chairman, respectively.
Mr. Dadzie and Ms.Opoku Agyeman assume leadership of the Council at a time when Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry continues to navigate evolving opportunities and challenges. Their appointment reflects the Chamber’s commitment to ensure sustained collaboration among stakeholders.
Mr. David Ampofo, the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber, expressed the Chamber’s appreciation to the outgoing leadership for their dedicated service and significant contributions during their tenure. Under the stewardship of Mr. Mensah and Mr. Ahwireng, the Chamber strengthened its advocacy role and continued to grow its influence despite a challenging operating environment for the industry.
Commenting on the transition, Mr. Ampofo noted that he looks forward to “working with the new Chairman and Vice Chairman to advance members’ interests and support the continued development of Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector”.
He also conveyed his gratitude to Mr. Mensah and Mr. Ahwireng for their leadership and welcomed their continued support and contributions as members of the Council.
