The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has paid a working visit to the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and its subsidiary, GNPC Explorco, as part of his ongoing tour of agencies under the Ministry.
The visit focused on engaging management and staff, reviewing operational progress, and discussing strategies to address Ghana’s declining oil production.
Addressing management teams from both entities, the Minister commended GNPC and GNPC Explorco for their commitment to Ghana’s upstream petroleum development but expressed concern over the country’s dwindling oil output.
“Our oil production has been declining over the past few years, and that is a matter of concern for all of us,” he said.
“GNPC and its subsidiary Explorco must take the lead in reversing this trend through aggressive exploration, innovation, and strategic partnerships.”
The Minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to providing the necessary policy direction and resources to build a strong, integrated national oil company capable of competing globally.
