Baker Hughes wins record compressor order in Dubai

Baker Hughes has secured its largest-ever order for Integrated Compressor Line (ICL) technology with the purchase of 10 units by Dubai Petroleum Establishment on behalf of the Dubai Supply Authority, Baker Hughes announced on Tuesday.

The units will be installed at the storage facility at Margham Gas Plant in Dubai. Five of the units will be utilised for gas storage and five for dual-use injection boosting or gas export to the existing distribution system, with the objective of improving the system’s ability to switch between natural gas and solar power and curbing its emissions.

“Our innovative ICL technology is set to be critical to support the gas infrastructure needed to address Dubai’s increasing expansion of renewables into its energy mix,” said Ganesh Ramaswamy, executive vice-president of industrial and energy technology at Baker Hughes.

Margham is Dubai’s largest onshore gasfield. It is being developed through production and injection gas wells that are connected via a gathering system to the Margham Gas Plant, from where gas is distributed to the Dubai grid.
