Atuabo Gas Plant set to resume full operations by October 15 after power challenge — NPA

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has announced that the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant, which experienced a power-related issue that temporarily halted LPG production, is set to return to full operational capacity by October 15.The NPA reassured the public that the power challenge has been resolved, and the plant is expected to resume regular production on schedule.

The Atuabo Gas Plant supplies Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to parts of the Western and Central regions, and the disruption has raised concerns about a potential shortage of the fuel.
Addressing these concerns in a press statement, the NPA confirmed that measures have been taken to ensure continuous supply during the period.

“Checks with the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) on 8th October 2024 indicated that the power challenge has been resolved. However, the Gas Processing Plant is yet to return to full production,” the NPA stated. In the meantime, the NPA directed LPG Marketing Companies (LPGMCs) in the Western and Central regions.  “There is adequate LPG in the country to meet national demand. The opening stock of LPG as of 9th October 2024 was enough to last almost two weeks of national consumption,” the statement assured. The Sentuo Oil Refinery is also contributing to the daily production of LPG to ensure market stability.
