Angola’s butane gas production exceeds national consumption – Radio Rebelde

Luanda The production of butane gas in Angola exceeds the consumption capacity of the national market, which is why the government is implementing strategies to expand its use in the country, the press reported today.

With around 420,000 tons per year, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Oil and Gas wants to reach more families and with this action protect the environment by avoiding the felling of trees, he told the Angolan Press Agency, the Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso

The country’s priority is to supply the domestic market, he stressed, which requires investments in various areas, especially in the production, marketing and sales circuits.

The foreign minister pointed out that while Angola is self-sufficient, consumption (around 80 percent) is concentrated in seven of the 18 provinces.

However, expanding the service requires the creation of facilities such as a new bottle factory and new facilities to repackage and requalify these containers.

Angola has almost five million cylinders in circulation and 75 percent of them are in bad condition, he gave an example.

Another problem is that the country has an onshore storage capacity of 11,727 tons (which is considered small) with 19 bottling centers and four terminals in Cabinda, Luanda, Benguela and Namibe.

The country’s surplus of butane gas is mainly exported to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Congo.
