Abu Dhabi’s ADNOC inks LNG supply deal with Indian Oil

Abu Dhabi’s ADNOC has signed a long-term deal for the 1-million-tonne-per-year supply of LNG to Indian Oil, the emirate’s Media Office said on Monday.

The 15-year deal will mainly use LNG sourced from the Ruwais LNG project, currently under development and slated to begin production in 2028.ADNOC partners with TotalEnergiesBPShell and Mitsui (each with 10%) on the project.

In June, ADNOC reached an FID on the Ruwais LNG project and awarded USD 5.5 billion in EPC contracts to a joint venture of Technip Energies with JCG Corporation and NMDC Energy, the companies announced on Wednesday.

Located in Abu Dhabi’s Al Ruwais Industrial City, the project will consist of two 4.8-million tpy natural gas liquefaction trains which will more than double ADNOC’s existing LNG production capacity once operational. The plant will use electric-driven motors instead of conventional gas turbines and will be powered by clean energy.

Prior to Monday’s announcement, ADNOC had already signed long-term LNG offtake agreements with China’s ENN Natural Gas and Germany’s EnBW and SEFE Securing Energy for Europe that will be sourced from Ruwais LNG upon its expected operational launch.
