The Petroleum Commission and Kosmos Energy Ghana have signed an agreement to facilitate the secondment of some engineers of the Commission to Kosmos Energy’s facility in Houston, Texas, in the United States.
The initiative forms part of the Commission’s efforts to build a highly skilled and technically competent workforce to effectively regulate and support Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry. Under the agreement, the engineers will gain hands-on exposure to international industry practices and specialised technical operations during their secondment. The Commission said the experience is expected to enhance the engineers’ technical knowledge and strengthen its institutional capacity.
The two organisations emphasised the importance of partnerships in building technical capacity and advancing Ghana’s petroleum industry. The Commission described the initiative as an investment in Ghana’s technical capacity and the future development of the upstream petroleum sector. It also commended Kosmos Energy for supporting the initiative.
